DME well represented in newly established DEUTSCHE WELLE Business Council

Deutsche Welle (DW), the “voice of Germany abroad”, strengthens its ties with German industry. On September 22nd, leading representatives from German science and industry gathered in Frankfurt, Germany for the inauguration meeting of the newly established DW Business Council.

Roland Berger, Speaker of the Business Council, emphasized the importance of Germany, having a “Name Card” in media in a globalized world. Eric Bettermann, Director of DW appreciated the support from industry, from which he expects a stronger foothold of DW in Germany and abroad.

Detlef Taprogge, President of DME, and also a member of the DW Business Council is convinced that the combination of DW quality journalism and German quality in Science and Technology are a perfect match: “We have wonderful technology and expertise in our country, particularly in the field of seawater desalination, which could bring tremendous benefit in solving water shortage problems in arid regions of the world, but only a fraction of this is known today abroad. Credibility abroad is the strength of DW, and that is also true for DME and its members who work for technological progress in seawater desalination. So, why not help each other for mutual benefit?”, Mr. Taprogge said after a DME Board Conference yesterday in Duisburg.

DW broadcasts in 30 languages, amongst others in Arabic language. It has excellent coverage on a multitude of countries where water can be as precious as gold, amongst others Africa and the MENA region; no doubt, an asset for professionals active in seawater desalination.
