Partner in water treatment

With more than 17,000 employees and over 12 million produced and sold pumps every year we are one of the world-wide largest manufacturer of pumps, motors and controls. We manufacture on all five continents and have own companies in more than 50 countries, which advise and provide our costumers reliably and also help them in case of service. We're thinking ahead and develop innovative products and services again and again, to enable our customers to transport water with responsibly also in future. Booster modules for ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis as well as high-precise dosing pumps for the modern water treatment are part of our pump range.

Components and system advice for the plant construction

In water treatment, pumps are mostly part of complex plants and systems. To ensure everything fits together, we offer apart from quality pumps and qualified consultation also a wide range of controls, accessories and components for the professional water extraction, distribution, transportation of wastewater and the water treatment.

BMEX-systems for the treatment of sea water and brackish water

Besides thermal treatment technologies the reverse osmosis is one of the best processes for the water treatment. Particularly for the high (pressure) requirements at the sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) Grundfos has developed the powerful BMEX high pressure system. The systems are designed for a treatment quantity between 500 and 2500 m³/day at an energy consumption of only 3 kWh/m³.

The Grundfos system consists of a high pressure booster module generating the required flow past the diaphragm. Also important is the pressure exchanger in order to be able to use the existing residual energy in the concentrate behind the diaphragm - the BMEX technology feeds back again up to 60% of the assigned energy. That is compared with conventional systems an optimum. The pressure loss at the pressure exchanger is compensated by a controlled BM pump by means of a frequency converter.

More special features of this heavy-duty technology:

  • Corrosion resistance
  • All parts that come in contact with the pumped liquid are made from stainless steel, polymer and ceramic, ensuring resistance to corrosive and low-viscosity fluids, e.g. seawater and brackish water.
  • High quality products
  • The BMEX system offers years of trouble free operation at a low cost of operation with limited maintenance effort.
  • Compact design
  • The BMEX system has a very small foot print giving system builders a free hand to design more compact systems.
